Wordende Wereld

Wordende Wereld was a newsreel made in the Dutch East Indies from 1947 to 1950. Wordende Wereld was produced by the Government Film Company Multifilm Batavia on behalf of the Government Information Service. The director of the film company was the Dutch filmmaker Jan Mol. One of the cameramen was Charles Breijer. Starting in November 1947, 133 newsreels were released, which were primarily intended for the Dutch market, but were otherwise not very popular in Dutch cinemas. The newsreels served as a propaganda tool for the Dutch government during the violent period of the Indonesian War of Independence: the choice of subject matter emphasized the development of the economy and indigenous culture.
